The wall at the back of the main Altar Hall (which is also the wall that stands directly in front of Ching Shan Temple) is the only temple anywhere in Taiwan made of blocks of coral reef (laogu stone).

‘Money’ is stacked in groups of nines and fives, and laid so tightly that joints are barely perceptible.

The Money Wall, 6 feet 2 inches by 10 feet 56 inches, is elegantly designed and decorated in subtle colors. ‘Welcoming Fortune and Prosperity’ is the underlying message here. It was donated in 1926 by Nei Chien Temple on Xiyu Islet in the Penghu Archipelago. Coral blocks used in construction were brought over by boat from the Penghus, across the Taiwan Strait.
